HIP-HOP SESSION WITH PROPELLERHEAD REASON

Atomik Circus Music reason 6.5 tutorial hip hop old school session

Today, let's focus on hip-hop beat session with reason. This tutorial is based on the big hit of NAS (Affirmative Action) released in 1996 (The original structure is not online but is in the .reason file in goodies).

The sample base uses a slow tempo (84 BPM) and is very minimal. It consists in a deep bass with a synthesized guitar combined with scratches (.rex files from the default reason library) and some brass instruments.

It is creative commons so feel free to download and play with this tutorial in Reason. If someone wants to put some voice, it will be my pleasure to hear the result!

Skydive season 2013 started

atomik circus music skydive opening day line twist

Such a beautiful opening for the first season skydive.

For my defense I sold my rig last year and this one is a rental rig and so it’s not the result of my own packing job. I added new tabs too : one about my passion around skydive session and the second about b.a.s.e jumping,a new family I joined recently , whom I'll fill with pictures and movies from my favorite playgrounds.

Ska Session with Propellerhead reason

Atomik Circus Music reason 6.5 tutorial ska session

A quick easy bass line, with a quick brass instrument line accented by guitar on the upbeat. We have the basico to make some ska music. The result would be really better with real instruments but I tried to explore the Reason possibilities to generate and simulate acoustic instruments, using effects. There is still a lot of work to do …

I used the patch FingerBass 1.0.sxt for the bass
I used the patch Gt Hippie 12Str.sxt for the guitar with some reverb (rv 7000) and distortion (Scream 4) effects
The drum is a loop from Acoustic Drums | College 130-1.drex reprocessed with some effects
For the brass instruments Full Orchestra.cmb and TRPS Long ff lite.sxt was used with some reverb and others effects.

Philadelphia - Center City - Hard Rock Cafe

What a beautiful tribute to the 27 club in the Philadelphia center city hard rock cafe!

In parallel, Philadelphia is a very nice place for street art, Philadelphia's Mural Arts Program is the largest street art program in the United States. It began in 1984 as an effort spearheaded by then Mayor Wilson Goode to eradicate the graffiti crisis plaguing the city. Muralist Jane Golden was hired to reach out to graffiti writers and to redirect their energies from destructive graffiti writing to constructive mural painting. Today, over 3,000 murals painted by local artists and artists from all over the world can be found throughout Philadelphia. The award-winning program has earned Philadelphia international praise as the "City of Mural " you can see a preview in this Str33t 4rt blog

Puvirnituq

Puvirnituq is a northern village (Inuit community) in Nunavik on the Povungnituk River near its mouth on the Hudson Bay in northern Quebec, Canada. Its population is around 1692.

The name means "Place where there is a smell of rotten meat".

This unusual name may have originated from either one of these events (occurring a long time ago):

 - A herd of caribou was swept away by the Povungnituk River while attempting to cross it and washed ashore near the current village site where the decomposing bodies began giving off a staunch smell.
- An epidemic killed off most of the area's residents to the point where there were not enough people to bury the dead, allowing the exposed bodies to decompose, giving off a putrid smell.

It is not accessible by road.

I made this track in the middle of nowhere, in the little community of puvirnituq lost in the tundra where I spent the month of october last year.

I chose to use pictures from a workmate living in japan since a while.

His sites are a source of inspiration to travel from your computer. What I like the most is his hunt for urbex pictures that remind me the Nunavik atmosphere.
